Every sunrise, Wendy’s Landscaping is beautifying landscapes and customers’ hearts
Wendy Boudreaux is owner and cultivator of health and beauty of Wendy’s Landscaping. Every sunrise, she connects with the spiritual dirt, God, and clients. Every appointed estimate, she gently walks across and along a potential customer’s property with care, love, and kindness.
“I always greet my potential customers with a handshake, give them a business card, and I thank them for allowing me to walk on their property,” Wendy said.
Before Wendy started handing out business cards and shaking hands, the “groundbreaking” of Wendy’s Landscaping began when she was asked to beautify a patient’s flowerbed. The “beautifier of land” is also a certified Personal Care Giver of fifteen years. During that first project, Wendy immensely realized her rosy romance with landscaping and God’s nature.
“I realized, not only do you get very close to nature, but you’re actually getting closer to God,” Wendy stated.
“It’s also good to get your hands in soil because God created all of this,” she added.
Therefore, to officially become a learned and certified landscaper, Wendy took online classes through Louisiana State University in 2015. Wendy ambitiously “dug” to gain depths of knowledge and eventually, a certificate. Soon after completion, Gardening Angel Landscaping “hovered” over potential customers’ yards.
“I originally chose Gardening Angel Landscaping because of the angels we carry around us,” Wendy explained.
The company name of Gardening Angel Landscaping “flew” around for five years. During that time, the landscaping business was constantly referred to as Wendy’s Landscaping due to an identical business name located in Lafayette. Therefore, the company name was changed five years ago, and Wendy’s Landscaping officially became a “grown garden” business with five employees.
Her expertise entails laying sod (prepping and feeding the sod), beautifying and placing/ planting flowerbeds, small tree maintenance such as Crepe Myrtles, a wealth of free plant knowledge, and befriending customers’ budgets and souls.
Every landscaping project, whether big or small, Wendy and her employees work meticulously with quality garden tools and with intricate “arbor” ambition.
“My customers are paying a lot of money, so I want to give them a bargain for their buck. If you’re on a budget, let’s wiggle the dollars around and see what we can make happen,” Wendy said.
The caregiver of people and grounds, is a giver to the land and well-being of others. Wendy is a vivacious volunteer and gives immediately without pausing. She is a part of the Marine Women's Auxiliary and donates to The Haven and other organizations. Thus, her generosity extends into her business.
Ultimately, Wendy wants to bless others with light “bumblebee blessings” - those little blessings, landing on souls and possible sunflower beds. Therefore, she includes free fertilizer pelts with each project and will sometimes deduct an unseen expense. She also waters you with free knowledge about plant care and revives you with powerful prayers.
“On one job, I met a young girl who looked at me and said, ‘Can I pray with you?’ And that day I really needed it. Her mom also prayed with me and it touched my heart deeply,” Wendy conversed.
“When I asked the same clients for their presence, the young girl asked me to pray for her because she said, “I really felt the presence of Jesus praying with you.’ I prayed with her and told her, ‘Seek God,’” she added.
Wendy’s clients eventually become family and relationships root below business formalities. The connection goes deeper than a shallow hole in the dirt. The owner fellowships with her newly formed family amongst flowers that open daily.
“Each customer is like family to me. I call and check on them daily,” Wendy said.
“When you plant things and you take care of it - it flourishes,” she added.
The giver of beauty is a nourishing caregiver to people and their land. She plants and nourishes a righteous company etiquette and therefore, her business has grown like climbing roses over the community.
Wendy’s Landscaping has been inducted into the Bayou’s Best Community Choice Awards twice (presented by Houma Today). Last year, Wendy attended the gala and joyously left with a finalist award. Soon again, she will be attending the gala with thankfulness in her garden tool bag to overhear her outcome.
“I don’t care about winning. It’s about being honest and giving your all,” Wendy stated
Every sunrise, Wendy’s Landscaping is beautifying landscapes and customers’ hearts. Every sunrise, she connects with God by putting her hands in the dirt. Her business lends its God-given green thumb to rejuvenate brown grounds and mounds of customers’ souls.
“I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it wasn’t for my employees, customers, friends, family, and most of all, God,” Wendy ended.
